The Exterior

The exterior of the house needs work, as well.  Some improvements are minor, but there are also some needed structural repairs.

We plan on giving our home a full, open front porch.  For now, we'll create a trap door on the porch for AC access, but eventually we'd like to move the AC unit to the back of the house.  It's an eyesore!  The shutters will be painted black.

The sidewalk leading up to the house is uneven, and we'll be replacing it.  The grass needs to be tilled and reseeded (with something other than crabgrass and dandelions).  The corner of the yard by the sidewalk will have a triangular garden section.

The driveway is severely cracked and needs to be refinished as well.

The back porch awning needs to be replaced, and the roof leaks in places (which needs to be done right away, to avoid structural damage).  We are content with the color of the siding and window frames, but when it comes time to replace the roof shingles, we're going with a brown or black color.

The garage door needs to be replaced, as does the side door and light fixtures.  The garage siding matches the house, so it's okay for now.  

The garage was placed far too close to this tree, and now the root system is beginning to cause structural damage to it.  This tree will need to be removed, and the side of the garage will need to be rebuilt.  The gutters had come off years ago, and need to be replaced.

Yes.  That's a skateboard ramp.  And it's an eyesore.  We plan to tear it down.  The windows in the garage need to be replaced as the frames are broken.  We're going to replace the lights with motion detectors.
